Description

Lafayette Laso Rittgers produced a humorous series of “Chalkware” Americana figures in the 1940s. This rarely offered group of (3) figures exemplifies the amusing nature of Rittgers creations. The stern General appears perturbed as the saluting Private turns his pop-eyed attention to the blonde beauty in red bathing suit. All three pieces bear the hallmark L.L.R. 1941 impressed on the heel area and they also have copyright stickers on the base. This group displays plenty of original detail with minor signs of age appropriate wear which do not diminish their shelf ready appeal. The 8” tall General is in excellent condition with only extremely small white chips showing. The Private also stands 8” and is in excellent shape with deference to a chipped nose. The seldom seen 7” tall Blonde is very attractive with just a minor chip or two, she appears to have minor touch-ups on the nose, chin and back areas.
