As Executive Branch artifacts go, the regal penning of Benjamin Harrison is among the toughest in the hobby. Couple Harrison’s signature with that of contemporary statesman Quintin Gresham and you have a rare patriotic prize, indeed. Executed on an otherwise blank 8-1/8 x 4-7/16” sheet with a rounded corner, Harrison’s black-ink steel tip fountain pen scripting shows unwavering (“9”) potency and is accompanied by his inscription of “March 25, 1892,” which dates to the latter portion of his presidency. On the reverse, Gresham has signed in black-ink fountain pen (“8” strength with minor ink migration) and inscribed “March 29 1893.” Full photo LOA from JSA.
