Description

Rittgers amusing “Chalkware” series of figures are serious fun and the presented 1946 “Batter & Catcher” pair surely fit the mold. These very tough limited edition issues present amazing original detail with minimal signs of wear. Both pieces have L. Rittgers copyrights and dates impressed on the left foot, and the catcher has an original sticker on the base. The batter stands 7” tall and presents in excellent condition with only minute scattered traces of white showing through the painted finish. The catcher is 4” tall and shows even less white than the batter, however he does have a barely noticeable 1/8” chip on the chest protector which can only be detected upon close inspection. The poor fellow has taken a slug on the chin from the batter’s bat which is a separate piece fitted into the batter’s hands by means of a metal prong.
