Best known for his lengthy tenure as the owner/coach of the Chicago Bears, iconic sports figure George Halas authored lesser-known stints as an outfielder for the New York Yankees and as owner of the American Basket Ball League’s Chicago Bruins. These (3) rare correspondence pieces are each signed by Halas in his capacity as the short-lived hoops team’s owner. Each Halas endorsement is executed in steel-tip fountain pen and projects (“9”) potency. Includes: (2) 1929 Letters typewritten on Chicago Bruins stationery, each is addressed to Chicago Stadium executive Sidney Strotz and details requests for changes in game dates; Stadium Contract a three-page document detailing the parties responsibilities for the 1929/30 season. It is signed at the conclusion by Halas, Strotz and promoter Patrick Harmon. Individual certs/stickers from JSA.
