Description

A teenage runaway with a knack for publicity, renowned sports promoter Jack Curley figured prominently in boxing, professional wrestling and virtually created the professional tennis tour. It was in the latter endeavor that Curley signed this 1931 Chicago Stadium contract. In exchange for 45% of the gate receipts, Curley secured the famed Madison Street venue to showcase the court exploits of Hall of Famer Bill Tilden. On the appropriate line, Curley’s black-ink steel tip fountain pen signature shows (“9-10”) quality and was rendered so prominently as to leave a transposed impression on the opposite page. The document shows normal compacting folds and comes with a full photo LOA from JSA.
