The first Baltimore entrant in the NFL, the 1950 Colts endured a 1-11 showing in their lone season before a second incarnation joined in 1953. This 1950 Baltimore Colts media guide is a decidedly rare relic in the realm of sports publications. The 52-page booklet features franchise and player information, as well as an introduction from team president Abe Watner, who declared: “I believe that the people of Baltimore and of Maryland want a pro football team, and I am determined that they shall have it, even though the maintenance (sic) of a team in Baltimore results in a personal loss to me.” With covers/pages intact, the guide presents quite nicely, with minimal wear along the edges of the covers. The inside front cover is home to a printed schedule listing the team’s unusual 2:00 start time for home games, as mandated by Baltimore blue laws.
