During the more productive portion of a career that is currently pushing a quarter-century, perennial Gold Glove shortstop Omar Vizquel wielded and autographed this “Glomar OV-G313” block-letter model weapon. Employed likely during the early portion (1994-1997) of his 11-year tenure with the Cleveland Indians, this (32-oz.34”) white ash lumber is uncracked and exhibits tremendous game use. In addition to Vizquel’s black marker autograph (“9” strength), the barrel is home to ball, bat-rack and stitch marks, as well as grain swelling and transposed stampings from OAL baseballs. There is pine tar residue about the handle and blue marker notations of Vizquel’s familiar number “13” on the knob and cupped end. Additionally, a handwritten “36” on the knob suggests that the bat was also used by Indians teammate Herbert Perry (1994-1996) or Bruce Avern (1997). Auction LOA from JSA (for autograph).
