Description

The brainchild of baseball pioneer Ban Johnson, the American League was quick to rival the established National League. The “Junior Circuit’s” quick rise to acceptance and popularity is evidenced by this 1904 volume. Published by the Chicago Sporting Goods Mfg. Co. on the city’s near South Side, this 136-page paperback-style booklet is entitled The American League Official Base Ball Rules-Schedules and Records and features biographies, statistics and photographs of prominent baseball figures. The guide presets nicely, though the covers shows wear and partial separation along the spine. The interior pages, meanwhile, remain decidedly crisp and clean.
