Prior to a Hall of Fame career that produced nine World Series titles and a 56-game hitting streak, Joe DiMaggio wrested the attention of San Francisco Seals fans during a tenure (1932-1935) that saw him author a 61-game hitting streak (1933) and a .398 batting average (1935). Encapsulated with autograph assessed “Authentic” by PSA/DNA, this DiMaggio signature hails from his Pacific Coast League days and is undoubtedly among the earliest known examples. Executed in graphite pencil on an otherwise black autograph booklet page, the signature (signed “J. DiMaggio”) shows (“8”) strength and clarity and is accompanied by a vintage inscription (in an unknown hand) of “Right fielder Seals Team.”
