Uncompromising throughout a Hall of Fame career during which many an opposing batter hit the deck with the whiz of a fastball too close for comfort, Don Drysdale debuted on opening day, 1956 and never left a doubt as to who had the upper hand in the pitcher-batter showdown. Encapsulated and graded PR 1 by PSA, this Ebbets Field ticket stub was issued on April 17, 1956 for the game in which Drysdale made his major League debut. Summoned to keep matters within reach in the top the ninth inning that day, Drysdale retired Del Ennis, Stan Lopata and Willie Jones, issuing a harmless walk to Jim Greengrass in between. The “Lower Stand” voucher features printed seating/event details and the familiar script-style “Dodgers” name. While reverse surface loss affects the facsimile signature of Dodgers boss Walter O’Malley, the obverse presents nicely.
