At the tender age of 40, Pete Rose paced the Senior Circuit in hits for the seventh and final time in 1981, upping his career total to 3,697. This pair of Philadelphia Phillies road pants was worn by “Charlie Hustle” as he out-performed players roughly half his age during that strike-shortened 1981 campaign. The light-blue knit leg wear features maroon-on-white trim lining the outer legs, two cotton-lined back pockets, a zippered one-button fly and six belt loops. Within the elasticized waistband, a “Wilson” size “33” label is accompanied by a strip tag with chain stitched identifiers reading: “Rose 81 2 27.” All-original and unaltered, the pants show game wear with turf and grass stains on the right knee and on the back of the upper right leg.
