Entering his third decade with 3,372 career hits and four World Series appearances, 39-year-old Pete Rose wasn’t nearly finished as the 1980 season arrived. With seven years, 884 hits and two World Series trips still remaining, Rose was issued this pair of Philadelphia Phillies road pants during a campaign in which he help guide the club to its first-ever title. The light-blue knit leg wear features maroon-on-white trim lining the outer legs, two cotton-lined back pockets, a zippered one-button fly and six belt loops. Within the elasticized waistband, a “Wilson” size “33” label is accompanied by a strip tag with chain stitched identifiers reading: “Rose 80 2 25.” All-original and unaltered, the pants show no apparent wear or laundering, but were no doubt tailored for Rose’s use during 1980.
