In his bid for an unprecedented third successive MVP honor, Mike Schmidt paced the circuit with a .547 slugging percentage in 1982. Maintaining the Herculean strength that produced 35 home runs, Schmidt employed this Adirondack “MS20” (70.1-oz/35-1/2”) weapon as he studied the habits of ill-fated opposing pitchers. A most unusual Cooperstown relic, this white ash lumber features the attributes of everyday gamers, with the exception of a lead-filled barrel for the purpose of increasing bat speed. Vintage athletic tape layers line the handle and barrel, while a black marker notation of “20” accents model number, batch code and year stampings on the knob. Heavy use is evident with pine-tar residue, bat-rack streaks and an impression from a weighted batting donut. Full photo LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA.
