The face (and hair) of the Pittsburgh Pirates, center fielder Andrew McCutchen brandished this MAX Bat “AM22” block-letter model lumber en route to his first-ever All-Star selection in 2011. The uncracked (31.8-oz/34”) maple weapon features a glossy black “Smith” finish and silver-colored barrel stampings. Absolutely incredible use is evident with a plethora of ball and deeply embedded stitch marks about the hitting surface, as well as transposed blue stampings from OML baseballs. The handle’s lower portion is home to scoring and light pine-tar residue and marks remain from a weighted bat sleeve. Inscribed in silver marker, McCutchen’s number “22” appears on the knob and cupped end. Full photo LOA from, John Taube, PSA/DNA
