A key component in the Tampa Bay Rays’ new identity and winning ways, perennial MVP candidate Evan Longoria brandished and signed this Louisville Slugger “I13” signature model weapon during his 2009 sophomore campaign. The (31-oz/33-1/2”) white ash lumber features the manufacturer’s 125th Anniversary logo design between the deep and defined center brand and prominent barrel stampings. Executed in blue Sharpie on the barrel, Longoria’s autograph (“9-10” strength) is accompanied by his inscription of “game used May 19 2009 vs. Oakland A’s.”
Graded GU 9.5 by PSA/DNA, the item exhibits evidence of excellent game use with ball, bat-rack, cleat and stitch impressions throughout, as well as transposed OML ball stampings. Separate coats of pine tar cover the lower and upper portions of the handle and an H-shaped crack of approximately six inches resides in between. On the knob, a weight notation is inscribed inside circular stampings identifying length, weight and manufacture date. Full photo LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA (for bat only).
The bat has also been authenticated by MLB, whose hologram is adhered to the barrel.
